In the world of digital marketing and social media networking… where does the business card fit in? In this Manic Marketing Monday episode, I’ll hand out a few tips on why it’s still relevant and how to use it.
As a business owner, you get tossed around – back and forth – between marketing your business and running it. Trying to establish new lines of communication with potential clients/customers can get exhausting, especially when you throw in social media networking through groups like: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and about 20 others! You can get to the point where you wonder: “Do I even need business cards any more… has the need for them just simply died out?”
In my business opinion, a good looking business card given to someone face-to-face can be the most effective way of networking with potential clients -and- those who will pass your name to potential clients. Digital Marketing can be a wonderful strategy for growth, but it is also kinda cold… it lacks that personal touch. We may have more of digital marketing, but it’s still human beings on the other end. Humans respond best to other humans. Handing someone a well designed business card is a warm invitation to get to know your business better. It’s an extension of who you are and how you do business. However, if your card looks like it was designed in the late 70s… you might end up with a much different reaction!
I have had a lot of people comment on how much they like my business card, it lets them know very quickly that I know what I’m doing and that I’m going to bring a creative level to their project. I take that same approach in designing my clients business cards, and everything else.
If you have been thinking that your business card is dead – maybe you should think again and consider having yours upgraded. Hand someone an extension of who you are and how you do business by simply giving them a business card that looks good.
